Speaking of Passion…

Career Choice Passion

New here? Learn about my wellness project, a year-long wellness experiment.

July is Passion Month. This means that I’m focusing on activities that will allow me to do work that aligns with my values and passion.

For me, that means moving closer to the goal of being a Certified Holistic Health Coach and Certified Personal Trainer, among other things.

As it relates to becoming a Certified Personal Trainer, I created an awesome study plan to get through all the reading before my live training seminar in August.

(I’m already behind, but that’s OK.)

When I read chapter 2 in ACSM’s Resources for the Personal Trainer, I was so excited to read the following section:

“Am I passionate about my chosen career? Publisher and philanthropist Malcolm Forbes once said, ‘Success follows doing what you want to do. There is no other way to be successful.’ Nothing lays the foundation for success better than being passionate about your chosen profession. Because the personal training industry is relatively new and has grown so rapidly, there are many Personal Trainers who jumped aboard strictly because of the moneymaking potential or because of the perceived glamour that follows the profession. It doesn’t matter how much money you make or how much of a power trip you get from personal training; if you are not passionate about your career choice, it will come across in your business interactions. Your clients will pick up on the fact taht your focus is not on their success by on your own personal gain. This is one of the fastest ways to lose clients and your credibility. … Passion does not have to be loud or hyperactive, but it does need to be yours.”

Passion! Success! I think it’s a sign…
