An Office Almost Done

A simple office showing bookshelves, desk, and chair.

My office is like 92% done, so I’m going to go ahead and post some pics. I just can’t wait! Here it is. I decided to go for a clean, mostly black and white look. Bookcases, desk, office chair, and easy chair are all from IKEA. It took some time to put it all together, but it’s so worth it. (Thinking about painting the trestles white… Thoughts?)

Office desk and easy chair.

My family thinks the chair is ugly, but I love it! It’s a slip-on cover, so should I tire of the black and white, I can get a different design. And voilĂ , I’ll have a new chair.

Desk glass top with love.

I fell in love with this desk glass top with the word “love” written in many different languages. Great way to remember every day what’s most important.

Simplicity books on my bookshelf.

Here are some of the books on my bookshelf. I got two bookcases to have some room to grow. However, I’m thinking that most of my new books will be on the Kindle. It’s just more sustainable, minimalistic, and easier to read. But there will always be more books, I’m sure.

Yellow secretary.

When you have a piece of glass and two wood trestles for a desk, you need somewhere to put your office supplies. This secretary (a hand-me-down from my in-laws), which we’ve had our entire marriage, provides ample drawer space and adds some color and charm to my office.

An office without distractions is a good office. I plan to hang a couple of pictures on the wall, but mostly, it’s just going to be bare. Empty space is good. It doesn’t have to be filled with noise. And so, my first blog post in my new office is done. Have a great week!

  1. I was just going to say that I *love* the print on that chair when I saw that I was in the minority! ;) Love your office! I hope one day to have my own office…and I’m definitely going to take a page out of your book (ie a little visit to IKEA) :)

  2. I told you we were separated at birth! :)
